The ITUC has described an announcement by the United Nations gender body UN Women of a partnership with the Uber company to “create” a million jobs for women as undermining the very principles of the United Nations.

On Wednesday 18 March, Global Unions and the Women's Rights Caucus met UN WOMEN Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and the UN WOMEN management team. The aim of the meeting was to discuss our concerns about the engagement of UN WOMEN with the private sector, including with UBER, and the lack of cooperation with trade unions and the women's rights movement.
