This session was hosted by the All India Women’s Conference and concentrated on giving detailed stories of how women can band together to protect each other against violence.
One of the most amazing stories that we heard was about a small village where women used whistles to support and protect each other in cases of domestic violence. When a fellow sister in the village was being hit by her husband, all the women would surround her house and blow their whistles in order to shame the perpetrator into stopping. In many cases this strategy has been successful in fighting violence against women. One way to break the circle. www.breakingthecircle.org
