Jane Hodges Director of the ILO Bureau for Gender Equality

Jane Hodges Director of the Bureau for Gender Equality at the International Labour Office in Geneva spoke to labour women at the Tuesday morning debrief. Jane wanted to highlight several issues and refer to some relevant documents that would be useful for the work ahead such as:

  1. The ITUC document on Violence Against Women in the DRC - Congo
  2. Rural Women and the MDGs
  3. Global Employment Trends for 2012
Jane also spoke briefly about the Social Protection Floor which is being mentioned frequently around the UN and can be found in the text of the Draft Agreed Conclusions.

In fact the Executive Director of UN Women Michelle Bachelet served as Chairperson of the Social Protection Floor Advisory Group and believes that social protection floors can offer an effective response to the increasing demands for social justice in many countries.
